LYMINGTON PACKS THEM IN ON EASTER DAY

The Easter Day Mass was so well attended that after all the pews had been squeezed tight, there were still a good number of would-be attenders outside on the tarmac. About thirty people managed to squash into the back of the church, where some looked very uncomfortable. Please click on "comments" below to tell us what you felt about this.

After Mass is a good time to award the prize for the best Easter bonnet, and Kate has no doubt that Leigh should be this year's winner. Sorry, Leigh, we didn't actually get round to providing a prize this year. (Next year, maybe?)

Michelle, Liz and John prefer to have their Easter photo taken in the bright Easter susnshine.

It was wonderful to see so many people of all ages packed in; a testament to Father Danny's charismatic pastorship and to the very real sense of family at Lymington church. But I can see from the photo that some people were standing very unconfortably and also holding little ones. Not sure what the solution might be if attendance continues to swell, particularly on Holy Days. It was a lovely sunny day: if there had been speakers rigged up then maybe chairs could have been set up outside the church or across in the community room?
Squashed-ness not withstanding (no pun intended), it was a gorgeous service. In particular, John Shea's poem about "The Arsonist of The Heart" moved me greatly. Sometimes words or pictures stay with you beyond the hearing or seeing. The whole poem is beautiful; the conspiracy of gardeners, cooks and strangers is memorable for me. I do think God and Love find us when we are hidden away, when we are not expecting it; whether it's the recognition of our own laughter or the familiarity of a stranger's words. Thank you!
