March 4th was the fiftieth anniversary of Tom and Ellen’s marriage. Among the packed congregation in the Church of Our Lady of Mercy were about forty members of their family, many of whom had travelled considerable distances. Afterwards they all retired to Stanwells for a meal, and the rest of us ate their cake

Ellen and Tom are two of the kindest people I've met in my life, and the genuine and very gentle love they share permeates everything they do: what a wonderful endorsement of Catholic marriage. Whether they're helping at OLMSJ or simply looking after their grandchildren, they do so with humility and unconditional care. I'm very proud to know them and it's always a pleasure to be around them.
