CLARE READS THE DISAPPOINTING NEWS
This weekend a pastoral note from Bishop Crispian was read at Mass. It confirmed that Fr Gerrit would be retiring on September 30th, and that Fr Danny will then take on the duties of Parish Priest for New Milton and Milford as well as for Lymington and Brockenhurst. He will be arranging with the help of other priests to cover all current Sunday Masses until the end of October. Meanwhile the Vicar General Mgr Vincent Harvey will be working with the clergy and with us to find how best to make Sunday Mass available across the Pastoral Area and to ensure the provision of the best possible pastoral care for all of us from November 1st.

No wonder Mollie is stalking forward purposely with a concerned look on her face. Obviously Fr Danny is extremely capable but one wonders how much more work even he can take on. The electronic bicycle may need some turbo-charging. At least he's assured the support of all his friends at OLMSJ.
It is particularly sad for Milford and New Milton who are not only losing a much-loved priest but also their deacon, Rev. Michael Welch!
We are of course grateful that Fr. Danny has agreed to care for us in the short term and will do what we can to help him carry the load and promise not to over-tax him. We do ask you to join in our prayers for a another good parish priest at a very early date. . .
Thank you, and may God bless our four parishes, Father Danny and all of us!
Sorry Sarah: of course it must be doubly sad for Milford and New Milton to be saying farewell to your parish priest and deacon. And extremely unsettling, even though the parishes will be in very safe hands. God bless all four parishes; the clergy and the congregations.
