On Wednesday there was a special Mass concelebrated by Fr Danny and
Fr Gerrit to mark the forty years since the Catholic Women's League was established in our Parish.

This was followed by a splendid meal at Stanwells, with all the ladies looking simply gorgeous.

Doreen certainly deserves that hug. She is 98 and has been a CWL member since she was 18. Is 80 years the longest anyone has been in the CWL?

After she died, I had to sort through my Mum's keepsakes and momentoes. She had kept a little Union of Catholic Mothers medal in one of her purses for years. She had immense respect for them and for St Vincent De Paul's and the part they had played in her home community in rural Northern Ireland. It was so good to meet Doreen on Wednesday; she's an incredible lady with a real graciousness and openness. I don't have a CWL branch in my own parish and it's lovely to join in with these wonderful women in Lymington, all such individuals but with united values and enthusiasm. The beetroot risotto wasn't bad either...
