As we had promised, where most of the people in one of the photos in our blog have already been named in an earlier edition we no longer publish a list of their names. Please let us know whether you approve of this or not, by clicking on the word comments below, and making your views known.

I am very pleased that you will not be naming people whose pictures you put on the blog, in my opinion it is not necessary and should comply with Data protection.
I do not think that you shuld publish photos of people on your Blog without their consent. These images can be accessed worldwide and not many people would want that.
So no photos without permission from individuals and CERTAINLY NOT named photos of children and young babies. There are strict rules for the protection of young people. Sometimes the Church can be very naive and it is in enough trouble without making access to children easy through a Parish Blog.
So please seek advice - I will not leave this alone.
People I have spoken to have no idea their photo has been published on line. We are talking about the World Wide Web and not just a few photos for Parishioners to view. Everyone has a right to privacy and identity protection.
A CONCERNED PARISHIONER
I distinctly dislike having my photo taken and have had at least one tantrum about "unphotogenic" pics being used - nothing wrong with the photographers, just me! But I do feel that if parishioners and visitors are actually posing for an occasion shot and are happy to be named, that should be their perogative.
I understand concerns regarding the risk of photos of children surfacing elsewhere on the internet, but surely the photos featuring on this blog will be of Baptisms, First Communions and other church, school and family related occasions? I'm sure Aardvark and his team would always seek the permission of parents, guardians and teachers before publishing photos or names of children.
Without names the blog is very impersonal& phoney. Yes I would hope permission was obtained before publication. I think we are aware of why the photos are taken in the first place, so a word at that time should be sufficient.
